Hong Kong Map

Our whirlwind tour of Hong Kong in three days used primarily the efficient MTR rail system and buses. Being centrally located in Kowloon at the 16 storey Salisbury YMCA allowed us to see much of Hong Kong and get to know the flavour of this great British/Asian city.

The steepest funicular in the world takes visitors up to "the Peak" for a spectacular view of Central Hong Kong, the harbour and Kowloon Peninsula.

Hong Kong is home to 6.5 million people. It is the world's eighth largest trading economy, the third busiest financial center and site of the world's most expensive office real estate.

On every street there are examples of traditional architecture alongside bold modern buildings.

In the Western District the market streets maintain their traditional flavour.  Upper Lascar Road (Cat Street) houses booths and stalls selling antiques and curios. Nearby is the Man Mo Temple and Fung Ping Shan Museum.

The Chi Lun Nunnery offers a zen-like garden in the midst of the highrises of Tsimshatsui.

The scenic Tsimshatsui waterfront promenade offers some of the best views of Victoria Harbour. Across the water is the Convention Center.
